Status: Part-Time Internship (Seasonal)
Position Summary
The Clinical Operations Nursing Intern will support Bello Machre's Nursing Services through clinical support projects, documentation organization, quality improvement initiatives, and resource development. Working under the guidance of the Quality Services Director, Nursing Specialist, and Bello Machre nurses, the intern will assist with organizing clinical resources, preparing documentation for nurse review, supporting quality improvement initiatives, and participating in projects designed to improve efficiency, consistency, and regulatory readiness across the nursing department.
The intern will also have opportunities to accompany Bello Machre nurses on residential visits to observe nursing assessments and gain exposure to community-based nursing services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Essential Responsibilities
Clinical Resource Development
- Assist with organizing, formatting, and publishing Nursing Delegated Skills reference materials for residential homes and Community Development Services.
- Organize and maintain nursing resource documents, templates, and reference materials.
- Support projects that improve access to standardized nursing resources across the organization.
Clinical Documentation Support
- Organize existing nursing documentation for review by supervising nurses.
- Prepare nursing documentation packets and supporting documentation for new nursing staff.
- Pre-format nursing documentation to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Assist with pre-populating appointment and immunization tracking tables using existing medical documentation.
- Review medical records to verify supporting documentation for appointments and immunizations under staff guidance.
Quality Improvement
- Assist with auditing nursing documentation using established review criteria.
- Participate in the development and pilot testing of nursing documentation audit tools.
- Compile audit findings and summarize trends for review by Nursing Services and Quality Services.
- Support projects that improve nursing documentation, workflow efficiency, and regulatory readiness.
Clinical Observation
- Accompany Bello Machre nurses on residential visits to observe nursing assessments and community-based nursing services.
- Observe nursing documentation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and clinical decision-making through supervised observation.
- Gain exposure to how nursing documentation supports quality care and regulatory compliance.
Administrative Support
- Assist with special nursing projects as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality of protected health information in accordance with HIPAA and agency policies.
- Organize project documentation and maintain accurate records.

Preferred Qualifications
- Current enrollment in an accredited Registered Nursing (RN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Interest in community-based nursing, quality improvement, or developmental disabilities preferred.
Schedule & Time Commitment
This internship offers a flexible schedule based on project needs, nursing schedules, and residential visit opportunities. The intern will primarily assist with documentation, resource development, and quality improvement projects while periodically accompanying nurses on residential visits to observe nursing assessments and community-based nursing practice.
