Specialized Mentor

Mentors will allow children (up to groups of 3 siblings per FPOCF referral source request) access to home or community-based instruction related to health, personal development, social development, and life skills. At intake, the Mentor will complete an Intake Goal Checklist to assist in identifying specific areas of needs or deficits of the child.  Sessions must address the identified needs of the child which may involve activities such as playing in the local parks to build peer relationships, sports, fishing, and/or reading together, etc. Allow access to positive recreational activities that are not easily accessible to them given as reinforcement to meeting attainable goals. Important function is to help the client access free community resources so that they may continue after closure of the case. Positive role modeling will be a crucial part of our mentors. The service is intended to be a completely positive, skill-building experience.
