Pastoral Resident

TITLE OF THE POSITION: Pastoral Resident

REPORTS TO: Executive Pastor of Campuses 

ROLE TYPE: Resident, Full Time, Salary 

HOURLY EXPECTATION: Averaging 40 hours per week 

General Description: This two-year residency is an immersive ministry development experience designed to help emerging leaders grow in their relationship with Christ, clarify their calling, develop ministry competencies, and prepare for long-term ministry leadership. Residents will engage in intentional spiritual formation, character development, theological training, and hands-on ministry experiences. Through coaching and mentorship from pastors and ministry leaders, residents will receive increasing opportunities to lead, serve, and grow in their ministry effectiveness. The anticipated workload is 40 hours per week. 

Responsibilities

Pastoral Preparation & Preaching

  •  Meeting regularly with the Executive Pastor of Campuses for mentoring in preaching, leadership, and pastoral care 
  • Meeting regularly with other Pastoral Residents for group learning and team-building
  • Serving as a contributing member on the Preaching Team. Preparing and preaching weekend sermons as assigned or other teaching/preaching opportunities as assigned by the Lead Pastor or the Executive Pastor of Campuses 
  • Assisting the Director of Groups in producing biblically-based curricula with particular emphasis on sermon-based group discussion guides  Participating in group life at Chapelstreet Church and experiencing Rooted
    Leadership Development 
  • Participating in and developing personal growth plan with the Leadership Development Team 
  • Meeting regularly with the Director of Leadership Development
  • Reading and discussing assigned reading 
  • Completing assigned observations and reflections on church ministry areas and worship services Required MeeƟngs 
  • Attending Preaching Team, All-Staff Meetings, Residency Meetings, and Trips & Retreats
