BooBoo Bear Daycare & Preschool located in Marine Park, Brooklyn is hiring! We’re seeking individuals with a passion for working with children ages 3 - 5. We are looking for a full-time UPK Lead Teacher/Education Director. In this dual capacity role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the center and a group of ten children in the UPK class, and act as a thought partner with the CEO.
We are seeking someone who is attentive, able to lead a class, mentor and supervise 3 staff, and implement weekly lesson plans in accordance with the creative curriculum that meets the children's individual needs. We are seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and creative professional who can work independently with minimal direction, with strong interpersonal and communication skills and a solid understanding of learning and child development.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement lesson plans in accordance with DOE’s Creative Curriculum
- Instruct preschool-aged children in activities designed to promote intellectual and creative growth
- Develop schedules and routines to ensure adequate physical activity, rest, and playtime
- Create a fun and safe learning environment
- Supervise and work collaboratively with the teaching team
- Conduct appropriate assessments and maintain portfolios/observations on all students
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and all staff
- Encourage and support parent involvement in the center
- Communicate with parents on students' growth and progress
- Maintain the health and safety of all students
- Maintain school calendar
- Lead the enrollment process with parents and staff
- Act as a liaison with the food vendor
- Monitor and acquire supplies as needed for the center
- Communicate with DOE’s ICs and other key stakeholders
- Daily cleaning to ensure a safe and clean environment
- Ensure the center maintains compliance with DOE, DOH, and OCFS health, safety, and licensing requirements
- Recruit, onboard, train, and evaluate teaching staff, and provide ongoing professional development
- Maintain accurate student records, attendance, enrollment, and immunization files
- Plan and lead family engagement events and parent-teacher conferences
- Document and report incidents, accidents, and concerns in accordance with center protocols
- Support children with diverse learning needs and coordinate referrals for additional services
- Manage classroom and program budgets and track expenditures
Requirements
- NYS Certification for Early Childhood Education (Birth to Grade 2)
- A Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or in a related field
- 3+ years working with children ages 2-5 in a daycare setting
- DOHMH and DOE background check clearance
- Proven experience in early childhood education or preschool teaching roles, with a strong background in classroom experience and classroom management
- Familiarity with special education needs, early intervention techniques, and behavior management strategies
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children from diverse backgrounds while fostering inclusive learning environments
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with staff, parents, and community partners
- Certification or degree in early childhood education or related field; additional training in childhood development or special education is preferred
- Experience working in daycare settings or private schools is advantageous.
