Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

About the Role
New Castle County is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Account Clerk to provide temporary accounting support within the Finance Department. This position offers hands-on experience in accounting operations, payment processing, and financial reporting in a collaborative government setting.
Examples of Work
Track returned payments and communicate with appropriate departments
Initiate wires/ACH/transfers in the banking platform and record journal entries
Process Requests for Check
Maintain armored car cash pick-ups
Prepare monthly journal entries for merchant and bank processing fees
Verify kiosk checks and download related reports
Retrieve, organize, and save daily reports across multiple payment platforms
Export and modify cashiering exports daily and verify for accuracy
Update and maintain various spreadsheets on a daily and monthly basis
Perform additional duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience with office equipment and standard management practices
Work experience in accounting, Microsoft Excel, and ERP systems
Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
